A thorough and comprehensive course fulfilling my expectations

This course is not just a day at the ranges. Excellent instruction throughout keeps you interested and engaged with all skills and drills taught by an instructor who obviously has a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for his subject. With a maximum of four students per course you are assured an excellent opportunity to practice old skills and learn new ones.

A detailed course firstly starting with weapon safety drills, structured step by step phases to learn the ins and outs of the firearms listed and a hands on course with live fire exercises. Covering all aspects of safety while on the range and while wearing a full carrier with the according gear. I highly recommend this course.

The one day course is really good value for money. The instrutor was interesting and knew his stuff. The day itself was useful and full of knowledge and engaging - exactly how the course should be. If you are looking for a firearms courses then this is definitely the one to go for, would highly recommend!!!

For anyone who is thinking of starting in the maritime industry or anybody who requires their firearms ticket, this course is a no brainer! All of the top maritime security companies are more than happy to except this course and openly encourage you to do this specific course as they no you will be trained to the highest standard once you have completed it. The instructor is very professional and friendly throughout, his background within the military doesn't get much better. The course overall was very enjoyable and I learn't a lot.

I recently attended the one day Maritime Firearms Competency Course run by Mark Knowles of Shooting Training Solutions. Mark is a comsumate professional with vast experience and his course reflected both these qualities. The course emphasised safety and the real-world application of the skills being taught, making it highly relevant to small teams operating aboard merchant vessels. The equipment and facilities available were first class, which was necessary to bring them up to the extemely high standard of instruction provided by Mark. In addition, the price was very competitive compared to similar courses. I would not hesitate to recommend this course to any Maritime Security professional.

it was evident from the start that the instructor (Nobby) new what he was talking about.The course itself was a good setup with 4 blokes having more time on the weapon.For those people looking for something worth their money then I would reccommend Shooting Solution and I know that you wont be disappointed.After leaving that course I was happy that I have gained more knowledge in to other weapon system that you only stumble once in a blue moon .

Excellent and extremely knowlegdgeable Instructor KNobby keeps everthing simple and factual The course is a complete package from a very interesting and informative powerpoint covering the History of maritime security industry , Short introduction to his career and skills to the various weapons that are used in the maritime industry. The day is broken down into several sections moving from the classroom , which is perfect for the small number of candidates ( maximum of 4 ) to the Range. The instruction part of the day in the range is split into Dry drills on a number of weapons and then warm up shots, then Zeroing the weapons to the 20 pound challenge - not won this time !! It is a pass/fail cousre not just a bums on seats course, KNobby keeps the classes small so he can assess everyone at all times and gives advice and feedback whenever it is needed. The cadidates are emcouraged to speak up if in doubt and ask questions. During the dry drills candidates give instructions to each other as they perform the NSP's, Stoppage drills etc All that KNobby asks is KISS ( keep it simple stupid ) and Safety Remember COCKER / LOCKER / SAFETY, then 1,2,3,4 - nothing difficult all kept simple Thanks one of the best courses I have ever attended.

Just completed a 1 day maritime firearms competancy course. Outstanding course In all aspects. First rate power point presntations covering weapon sytems, the currrent maritime threat & situation awarness of global security. Robust weapon handling drills covering everything from semI automatic to bolt action weapons. Emphasis on the need for weapon safety on shipand the limitaions and pitfalls facing MSOs. Indoor range covered appropriate shooting skills with a fun and enjoyable firing package. In summery, proffesional, excellent refresher with new skills learned, more weapon systems than you can shake a stick at and most of all we had fun doing it. Cheers Mark. The 1 day STS course had a ratio of 4 students to 1 instructor, enabeling excellent interaction and plenty of hands on practice with a range of industry specific weapons. There is a lot of information to take in but due to a superb knowledgeble instructor and a relaxed but mature and professional atmosphere, the whole day was informative and hugely enjoyable. Well worth the money and more importantly well worth the refresher training with plenty of range time.

THE COURSE WAS RECOMMENDED BY MY OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT AT AMBREYRISK. I WAS FULLY SATISFIED WITH THE FANTATSIC PROFESSIONALISM & KNOWLEDGE PROVIDED BY THE DAYS COURSE. GAINING THE CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY FOR THE USE OF UP TO 6 WEAPON SYSTEMS USED IN THE INDUSTRY THROUGHTOUT THE HRA IS VERY WORTH HAVING. THE COURSE WAS VERY PROFESSIONALLY RUN BY A TOP SPECIAL FORCES INSTRUCTOR WHO HAS WORKED ALL OVER THE WORLD ON VARIOUS OPERATIONS AND PROJECTS, AN OLD SCHOOL GUYWHO WILL PUT YOU THROUGH YOUR PACES THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND WILL TELL YOU IF YOU ARE GOING WRONG SOMEWHERE ON THE COURSE. PASS OR FAIL COURSE, NO MESS TINS HERE!. I LEARNT NEW THINGS THAT DAY AND KEPT ME ON MY TOES, GAINING KNOWLEDGE THROUGHOUT THE DAY, A COURSE WELL WORTH THE MONEY AND WILL BE BACK FOR MORE. This Course was recommended to me by a friend a Former RMP CPO, he himself rated this course in the A+ category. This 1 day course is designed to 'Grant' a certificate of Competency for the use of up to 6 different firearms in daily use on the ships in the HRA. To Grant this certificate Nobby Knowles will expect a degree of competency before you walk through the door, because once he starts you’d better keep up. Nobby former SBS, SAS, 'for real' is an old school good guy who will go out of his way for blokes that can keep up, learn the drills and shoot straight. He even puts on a butty selection and biscuits thought the day. 3days work go in to this 1 day course so be ready.. A real value for money course. I had previously done the TTW course at the tunnel, but this STS was harder faster and more dynamic.

Maritime Firearms Competency Course - very good

his course was exceptional from start to finish. It was presented in an extremely professional but relaxed manner. The course instructor Mark Knowles was thorough in his methods of teaching. Mark has a wealth of knowledge in all areas regarding the Maritime industry. The range was expertly ran. Held in a relaxed and safe enviroment with all skills revised prior, fluently transcending in to the practical side of the course. I highly recommend this course with STS and will look towards Mark knowles for future qualification.

I recommend this course definetly. From the start everything is laid out for you and very profesional. From the initial communication and joining instructions, to the day itself. The day starts of with tea/ coffee and intros and then builds into the lessons themselves. The weapons learnt are applicable to the career its intended. You have to put the effort in as there is a lot to take in. But the Insructors knowledge and instruction is superb and it all comes together very quickly. Many thanks for a very informative day.

I was expecting another typical MFCC when I booked on to the STS course as I have completed 2 other and I was complety mistaken. Small group for learning and more personal instruction, wide range of weapons and first rate instruction from Nobby. I couldnt recommend this course highly enough to any other MSO or any personal wishing to join the industry.

Excellent course. Good balance between the knowledge & hands on with the weapons. The instructor has a lot of experience and great teaching method for instructing on these weapon systems. Excellent course everyone should do this course.
